History:

To most, the origins of the regions are unknown, but some have been blessed with the knowledge. And, for better or for worse, history does have a way of repeating itself...

A powerful Legend created the Laokia Region, long after many other regions came into existence. Laokia was at first devoid of sentient life, but the Legendary created Pokemon, unique to the region, and gave out a call that brought many more from far and wide, from all of the other regions, to the land, making it more diverse than any. But, it was still without humans, and it remained that way for years. After a while of the region exsisting away from human eyes, the Legendary Creator bought humans, ignorant to the Legend's actions, across the seas to the land. There the humans and Pokemon lived together in peace and harmony, and the Legendary Creator appointed an Umbreon and an Espeon to watch over the region, and even gave them special powers. However, all good things eventually come to an end.

A shipwreck, a chance happening that could easily have been a coincidence, brought a group of evil humans to Laokia. Whether another force was at work, or it really was a coincidence is uncertain, but the humans banded together and brought terror and destruction to the region. The balance was threatened, as was the fate of all Laokia. In a last effort to defeat the evil, Lord Umbreon and Lady Espeon used up the remainder of their powers to dispell the evil from Laokia, as well as to whipe away the terrible humans' memories. With no power left, Umbreon and Espeon would have died there where they fell, but instead the Legendary Creator transformed them into statues, so they could steadily rebuild their energy throughout the years to come.

Another multitude of years spent in Peace, with a relative lack of evil, and then evil once again reached Laokia. This time it was in the form of a woman named Belladonna, and a small fleet of ships filled with her followers. The Grim had found Laokia, and threatened the balance once again. Knowing that the Region was in peril, the Legendary Creator called forth Apprentice-Professor Cassandra Tarei. The region needed a resident Professor, one who was good at heart and would do anything to protect the region, and Tarei was perfect for that task.

With Tarei, who soon becamea full-fledged Professor, a wave of good humans washed into Laokia, looking to explore the newly discovered region. The balance remained in-tact, but with the steadily growing evil, that could not last long.

Tips for Using the Template

1. You must post the template code in BBCode mode.

2. If you are having difficulties making heads or tails of the code, switch to preview mode.

3. In preview mode, avoid backspacing too much, as that can confuse the editor and you could
    accidentally delete something important. You can always switch between modes as needed.

4. Try typing out the major sections (Appearance, Personality, etc.) in a word processor and copy & paste
    them where they should be when you are done rather than typing them up directly on the template.

5. Do not add any extra coding to the template. Leave everything as is. (You can personalize the code in
    your official character thread, just not the application.)

6. If all else fails, you may ask a staff member to fix it for you.

7. Optional- change the color of the secret words to white to make it more... secret.

Breakdown

Using the template above, create a thread in the 'Character Applications' board and fill in the information for your desired character. Work-In-Progress threads are allowed, but may be cleaned out if not edited for a long period of time. The second portion of the template & code is only required for a member's first character. Once your character has been accepted by a staff member, repost their information in the appropriate board- this method merely helps to keep the boards, and threads, nice and tidy. (The second portion is not part of the character and does not need to be moved with the rest of their profile.)

To fill out the form, simply copy and paste the code into the BBCode editor, and switch to the Preview editor to enter your text. However, you can do this by whatever method you find it easiest, just be careful as the code will likely mess up. It may be wise to save the code from time to time on Notepad, or a similar text editor. You should place images in BBCode, as it is much safer and has less of a chance to mess up than Preview mode. Our apologies about this!

For word counts, use either the provided counter on Laokia in a separate Quick or Full Reply page, or use an off-site word counter. Whichever method is easier and preferable to you.

Name-
Required. The full name of your character. Preferably in First, Middle (If Desired), and Last format. If you wish to add a pronunciation guide for your character, do so in either their Personality, Appearance, or History. Character's may share the surname of a canon- as in Oak, Joy, etc.- but the character cannot have the same name as a canon.

Image-
Optional. Please do not use images larger than 110 x 200. You may use a thumbnail linked to a large image if desired. Trainer sprites are the preferred image used, and if you ask around nicely you may find someone willing to create a custom trainer sprite for your character.

Nickname-
Optional. Simply your character's nickname(s), if they have any. Can range from long to short or in between.

Gender-
Required. Male or Female only. Simply your character's gender.

Age-
Required. The age of your character. May be in years or another increment of time, as desired.

Birthday-
Optional. The month and day that the character was born.

Species-
Required. The species of your character- Human, PokeMorph, or Pokemon. See 'RP Rules' for more details. If a PokeMorph, state with which Pokemon the character shares DNA, and the percentage of Pokemon DNA they have. If a battling PokeMorph or a Pokemon, include their 'Pokemon Stats', available in the 'Templates' resource board.

Profession-
Required. State the desired profession of your character. They can only have ONE profession. Currently, 'Trainer' is the only available profession.

Badges-
This is where you'll put the badges you get for completing gym battles, breeder tasks or ranking up in the Grim. Just leave it blank for now.

Appearance-
Required. This is the appearance of your character. Don't be shy, describe everything about your character. Some things that you could describe would be your character's eye color, clothing, height, weight, body type, and hair color. There is a minimum of 100 words, but there is absolutely no limit on the length.

Personality-
Required. This is the personality of your character. Here you'll describe all of their quirks, thought patterns, feelings, likes, dislikes, the way they act, etc. There is a minimum of 200 words, but there is absolutely no limit on the length.

History-
Required. This is the place where your character's history, up to the point you wish to start role-playing with them, is located. Be very detailed, as it will help yourself and others better understand your character, and help in determining you character's personality. Describe your character's past, where they came from, how they grew up, and how they got to the point they are at presently. There is a minimum of 300 words, but there is absolutely no limit on the length.

Role-Play Example-
Required for first character only. This will be an example of your own role-playing skills. This doesn't have to be about Pokemon, but it is preferred if it is. It's preferred if you don't copy and paste it from somewhere else, however it is allowed, but it must be an original work of YOURS! DO NOT STEAL! There is a minimum of 250 words, but there is absolutely not limit on the length.

Secret Words-
Required for first character only. The secret words are hidden- or, rather, placed- in the first four sets of rules. Find these words and place them, in the same order as the rules, to form a sentence. Once your application has been accepted, please REMOVE these words, or replace them with something random. The secret words may change at any time.
