The Grim determines the pecking order of it's members by rank. Depending on what one's rank is, they are limited in terms of how far they can travel and how strong their Pokemon can be. Increasing their rank allows them to lessen their limitations bit by bit. Rank is increased by gaining the appropriate amount of rank points, which are given for various activities, from completing missions to handing in Pokemon captured in the wild. Of course, you can lose rank points as well.
As with the level limitations for other characters, grim members cannot capture or receive any Pokemon that is beyond their level maximum. Any Pokemon they have will stop gaining experience once they reach their maximum level.
Each region has eight bases located throughout the areas. These are usually in lower population, easily hidden, locations reasonably near major cities or places. While Laokia's bases are fairly standard, some creativity was required for placement in Aryll and thus those bases may be more difficult to access. Aryll's bases are also generally much smaller than Laokia's, due to both lack of interest and lack of good locations.
