: Pokemon Rules : CommunicationIt is strictly up to the member whether or not they want their character to be able to communicate with Pokemon. However, in Laokia & Aryll most people have adapted to be able to effectively understand and talk with their Pokemon through an adapted mental link. This 'communication' is different than ordinary human speech, and should be displayed as such- unless of course the Pokemon is capable of human speech, which is still rare. Simply place this communication within something other than quotation marks ( " ). A commonly used denotation for Pokemon communication are arrow brackets ( < & > ), or tildes ( ~ ). So long as it is legible and does not interfere with the post, members may decide to display this as they wish. LimitationsThere are some limitations on Pokemon that are in place to make this roleplay fair and to keep things from becoming too over-powered. These limits are based around the games and anime, but may be different. Attacks- As stated elsewhere in the rules, Pokemon may know up to 6 attacks at any given time. To relearn a move they have forgotten, they must be taken to a Move Relearner (at the price of a heart scale). Move tutors are located in various areas around the regions and can teach Pokemon special moves, for a price. TMs are single-use items as they were in Gen IV games and earlier. HMs may be forgotten at any time, without the need for move deleters.
Party- A character may have up to 6 Pokemon or Eggs in their party at any given time. Extra Pokemon will be stored in the character's PC- which can only be accessed from a Pokemon Center. When a Pokemon is captured and the character already has a full party, they may CHOOSE which Pokemon to send to the PC; it is then teleported via a special feature in the pokedex. If a choice is not made, the newest Pokemon will be sent to the PC by default.
PokeMorphs- Pokemorphs are special characters that share DNA or traits of a Pokemon. Refer to the 'Species' section of the 'RP Rules' for more detailed information. Pokemorph characters that will battle may only carry 5 Pokemon or Eggs in their party at any time. Like Pokemon, they may only know up to 6 attacks from their Pokemon-portion's moveset; if their Pokemon portion is evolved but can learn new attacks by leveling up, they use the evolution's moveset but start with the attacks that the unevolved form would know at level 5. If their Pokemon portion is evolved and does not learn any attacks by leveling up, they use the moveset of the unevolved form.
Demons- Demon Pokemon can have the same attacks as the Pokemon normally would, however due to their violent crazed nature uncured demons will only use damage-dealing attacks. If they do not have any damaging attacks, they will use Struggle. Also, if there is an Angel Pokemon nearby, uncured demons will always focus their rage and attacks on it.
Level- All characters have a limitation on how high leveled their Pokemon can get. Once a Pokemon has reached that limit, they will no longer receive any amount of experience and will not gain levels by any method, even if they battle or are fed a rare candy. Characters also cannot receive Pokemon that are above their level limit. The limit on their level is decided by how many professional accomplishments they have accumulated. The maximum levels for each accomplishment are as follows:
Trainer | - No Badges - Level 10
- One Badge - Level 20
- Two Badges - Level 30
- Three Badges - Level 40
- Four Badges - Level 50
- Five Badges - Level 60
- Six Badges - Level 70
- Seven Badges - Level 80
- Eight Badges - Level 90
- League Victory - Level 100

EvolutionGenerally, Pokemon follow the same evolution method as in the Pokemon games. If they evolve at a certain level, then once they reach the necessary level the member may decide whether or not to evolve them. It is each member's responsibility to know when their Pokemon can evolve, just as it is their responsibility to keep their information up to date and check when their Pokemon can learn new attacks. Level- Simple, once the Pokemon reaches the necessary level to evolve, the owner may decide whether or not to evolve it.
Stones- To evolve a Pokemon that evolves with a stone, merely role-play your character using the stone on or giving the stone to the Pokemon. Note that your character MUST actually own the stone, and it disappears after use.
Time- Pokemon that evolve at a certain time will evolve at an approximation of that time in the role-play (not real life) so long as all other conditions necessary for the evolution are met. Follow the rules on time passing stated in the 'RP Rules'- basically if you have been role-playing as if it were day, you cannot suddenly have it be night. Progress in the role-play and mention time progression steadily as you do, or skip time by performing a reasonable action (napping, playing, etc.). Just be reasonable and do not abuse this!
Trading- Pokemon that evolve by trading will instead evolve by leveling up while holding a Link Cable. The character must, obviously, own the link cable in order to give it to their Pokemon. However, if the Pokemon evolves by holding a specific item while being traded, it must be given that item instead and will evolve after leveling up.
Happiness- Pokemon that evolve by happiness will evolve by leveling up once their friendship is maxed out. Follow the 'Friendship' guidelines found in these rules for more information.
Learned Move- Pokemon that evolve by learning a specific attack will evolve once they learn that attack. If they know the attack already, they may evolve upon leveling up.
Location- Pokemon that evolve at a certain location will evolve upon leveling up in the corresponding location in this role-play. These locations are as follows:
[li] Mossy Rock - Laokia: Camsakell Forest (Clearing) | Aryll: Briar Forest (Center)[/li][li] Icy Rock - Laokia: Mt. Homorgina (Summit) | Aryll: Frostbite Pass (Middle)[/li][li] Electro-Magnetic Field - Laokia: Cráneo Caverns | Aryll: Thunder Valley[/li]
[/ul] Special- Pokemon that evolve by a special method or with unusual results are listed below with details on how this translates into the role-play.
[li] Nincada - Character receives Shedinja IF conditions are met - Character has an extra space in their party - Character has an empty Pokeball[/li]
[li] Karrablast / Shelmet - Have both in party & Give one a Link Cable - Only the one holding a Link Cable will evolve - They evolve as soon as these conditions are met, no level-up required[/li]
[li] Mantyke - Levelup with Remoraid in party[/li]
[li] Wurmple / Tyrogue - Once normal conditions are met, member chooses outcome[/li]
[/ul] LegendsLegendary Pokemon have their own set of rules and guidelines in this role-play. As they are intended to be 'legends', that is rare, difficult to obtain, and powerful, their use on this site is limited to prevent abuse. Capturing- Legendary Pokemon are difficult to capture. In fact, on this site, they can only be captured with a Master Ball or a Cherish Ball- any other ball used in an attempt to contain them will shatter. However, legends do not take up a space in the character's party- they can be carried independently without further limiting the 6 party slots. Only ONE legend may accompany a character at any time (unless otherwise stated for plot reasons).
Obedience- A Legend will only obey a trainer that it joined of its own free will. So, if the legend did not choose to accompany a character, then it will rarely, if ever, obey their commands.
Battles- Legendary Pokemon cannot be used in ordinary battles. They may only participate in the main site's plot events or if given explicit permission for smaller plot events.
EXP- Legendary Pokemon require experience of 4x their level to gain a level. Since they cannot battle normally, legendary Pokemon gain some experience just from being outside of their pokeball while their teammates are battling; the amount is determined by the mod, but is always less than what the participating Pokemon receive. This does not apply for battles the Legend actually plays a part in.
Staff Control- On occasion, legends may be controlled by a staff member for a plot event. This should be a rare occurrence, and will not alter anything about the Pokemon itself.
Trading- Legendary Pokemon may NOT be traded unless given explicit permission from an Admin or Co-Admin.
Laokia Legends- These rules do not apply to Laokia's legendary Pokemon. Laokia legends can not be captured or used in any way by members, and will adapt/evolve based upon the events in the main site Plot.FriendshipAll Pokemon in Laokia have a friendship meter that keeps track of how much friendship a Pokemon has with its owner. The base is 0, and is where most Pokemon will start out. If the number falls below zero, the Pokemon may disobey the trainer or even, if it becomes extremely low, run away. Disobedience is purely up to the member, unless they fail to be reasonable with it. Higher friendship with Pokemon can cause them to do things that they perhaps normally would not or to take greater risks for their trainer. Friendship can reach either 100 or -100 before it is maxed out. Starters- Pokemon obtained as a starter from the lab automatically get a friendship bonus over wild Pokemon. They normally start with 50 friendship points; however demons will start with 0 and angels, when available, with the full 100.
Demons- Wild demons start with -100 friendship; they are rabid, crazed, and predictably violent. They will remain in this rabid state until their friendship becomes 0, at which time their sanity will be restored and they will behave like any other Pokemon; even if their friendship should fall below zero, they will not revert to their uncured state. Uncured demons are unlikely to obey their trainer's commands- as their friendship rises they become more likely to obey.
Angels- Angels cannot currently be found in the wild. Their friendship rises and falls at the same rate as any other Pokemon. If an Angel's friendship falls below 0 they are likely to disobey their trainers. If an Angel's friendship falls to -100, they will always run away.
Friendship Gains- Provided below is a list of things that will gain friendship points with a character's Pokemon, and certain things that will affect the rate/amount of friendship gain.
[li] Luxury Ball / Friend Ball : x2 Friendship gain[/li][li] Soothe Bell : Friendship gain increased by 1 point (when held)[/li][li] Angel (Out of Pokeball) : x2 Friendship gain for Demon Teammate (Out of Pokeball)[/li]
[li] Out of Pokeball (10 Turns Straight, Healthy) : +5[/li][li] Defeats an Opponent (Each Unfainted Contributor) : +3- If opponent does not faint, subtract 1 point. - If opponent has full HP, zero points are given.[/li][li] Leveling Up : +2[/li][li] Feeding Rare Candy : +1[/li][li] Revive fainted Pokemon (Within 10 Turns) : +2[/li][li] Revive fainted Pokemon (Within 5 Turns) : +5[/li][li] Use healing item on Pokemon (If Needed) : +2[/li][li] Heal Pokemon at Pokemon Center (If Needed) : +3[/li][li] Feeding 'Friendship' Berries : +1[/li][/ul] Friendship Losses- Provided below is a list of things that will lose friendship points with a character's Pokemon, and certain things that will affect the rate/amount of friendship loss.
[li] Luxury Ball / Friend Ball : ½ Friendship loss[/li][li] Soothe Bell : Friendship loss decreased by 1 point (when held)[/li][li] Angel (Out of Pokeball) : ½ Friendship loss for Demon Teammate (Out of Pokeball)[/li]

And here is where you can find the secret word. This is the FOURTH word. Got it? Magikarp. There! That's it! This word is subject to change at any time, without notice. [/div][/div]
