appearance ¬ Professor Ashley is rather young, at least for a professor, and she looks it. She has a youthful appearance that can lead many to believe she is not one to be taken seriously. She customarily wears comfortable and simple clothing- jeans or sweats, a t-shirt, and black converse sneakers. One might on occasion catch her wearing the white lab coat customary of a scientist or professor, but she usually cannot stand the thing. More likely, it can be seen lying around the lab or tied about her waist. She never wears makeup- if she has any on it was likely done against her will by force. She does not do much for her 'beauty'. She'll brush her hair and teeth, but that's about it. Even with sporadic brushing, her hair still has a frazzled just-got-out-of-bed look to it, and honestly she cannot be bothered with it. She wears glasses as well, and since she is fairly blind without them it is rare for her not to have them sitting atop the bridge of her nose. | personality ¬ Many might consider Professor Ashley to be a kind soul, though a bit unfocused and absent minded. She has a difficult time saying 'no' to anything, but as a Professor she has had to force herself to do so. Her memory is rather akin to a sieve- it can retain things for a short while but they tend to drain out. Her long term memory is fine, and she can remember some things without any effort- remembering to do something or what day it is though... Not so much. She cares for all her Pokemon, and really views them as friends more than anything. She doesn't really like to stay put around the lab, though she genuinely enjoys learning. She grows rather antsy if she is kept cooped up indoors for too long, so she often leaves her lab to enjoy strolls or actual work-related research. Despite being the younger sibling, she tries to take care of her older sister. She is not accustomed to having a sister, so often she forgets. She is certainly the most stable person working in the Aryll Lab, and the only one for some time. Her Pokemon are the ones that help tend to things, as they are all comfortable with the job. |

Ashley Shadburn does not have a long and eventful history- at least, not that she knew of. She had never been married; she had some romantic interests but those never got very far and she grew accustomed to being on her own. She lived with loving parents and knew most of her family, close enough that she even got to see them fairly often. She did not have many close friends, but she thought of pretty much everyone as a friend- and those she was closest too were certainly great and there for her. So, growing up she lacked nothing really; she was not spoiled, but she was also not deprived of anything and grew up in a stable loving environment.
She grew up with a fondness for Pokemon and learning that drove her to becoming a professor. Many in the professorial community do not actually consider her to be a fully qualified Professor; her position in Aryll was obtained due to a combination of the simple necessity for a professor in the region, and from her friendship with Tarei, professor of the neighboring region of Laokia. One may say that she is, in a way, an apprentice to Tarei- though neither of the pair really views her as such. Her life had been simple and full.
However, she had recently come to discover that she was in fact adopted- and that information was a huge shock to the woman. She found out that her actual family had been killed in an accident, all except for her elder sister. Unfortunately her sibling's life had not progressed in the warm positive way that Ashley's had. She had been taken from the hospital- with wounds that she was not expected to survive- and used as a test subject by some vile people, the kind who dare to call themselves professors and humanitarians. She was turned into a PokeMorph. Having made these discoveries, Ashley spent many sleepless nights tracking her sister down.
She only recently found her, fortunately living happily with a loving husband. Ashley, naturally, invited the couple to Aryll to help her tend to the lab. They are not often seen around the building, but they are there. Perhaps the couple will grow more at ease with time- until then Ashley looks after and cares for them.
