Notice to V2 Members
Sadly, V3 did not get off to a great start. The site made some progress and a lot of changes took place (some for the better, some not so much). Then, naturally, I went inactive due to reasons that were frustratingly out of my control. The site dwindled away and died, leaving a pitiful husk full of promise.
I mean to change that.
The transfer to V3 had some major flaws. For one, in trying to make things fair and more balanced, we actually were very unfair. All the work members had put in was essentially stripped away. We were, in a way, punishing those who had been modded and had made progress in an effort to make it fairer to those who had not been modded. That circumstance is the fault of the staff, not of the average player, and many of the players who had advanced far had been a part of the site for years.
I have a pseudo-solution to this problem that I will be announcing before the 'official' reopening of the site. (The site is technically open now, but when it is official I shall send out PMs, emails, and post an activity check to see who, if any, return. New and old members are very welcome to RP here in the meantime!) This solution should keep a level of balance for the players who had not advanced, while giving the players who had a fair mild advantage.
The plot has still been reset! This is good as it gives new players (and several older players) a chance to experience it and allows me to flesh it out.
Now, some of you may recall that when we moved to V3 we took out the shadow, marine, and crystal Pokemon- as well as restricted players from bringing certain 'special' Pokemon over with them. I will not say too much, but the plot actually calls for shadows, marines, and crystals to return. As for the special Pokemon, well, I am devising a system to incorporate those as well. Members will not be able to bring over all their gajillion Pokemon, but a system is also being devised for Pokemon transfers.
The main point of this is, Laokia is supposed to be fun. In our transfer we had focused so much on making things fair and balanced, that we very well may have sacrificed some of the fun to do so.
If any older members see this before the 'official' reopening, I hope that you approve. I have not given all that many specifics, but they will be revealed soon, hopefully in time for April, perhaps May. Thanks for sticking with Laokia, and for the new members, thanks for giving the site a try! Love you guys.
